Positioned between the Piedmont and Research Triangle regions, Chatham County has developed a high quality transportation infrastructure network that makes accessing local, regional, and global markets a snap.

Local Transportation
U.S. routes 15-501, 421, 64, 1, and NC-87 provide easy access to I-85, I-40, and I-95 and connect to major cities in North Carolina and along the Atlantic seaboard.

Chatham Transit Network is the county’s public transportation system. The Town of Chapel Hill also runs a bus line between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro several times daily.

Raleigh-Durham Interational (RDU) & Piedmont Triad International (PTI) Airports
Air service is available with Raleigh Durham and Piedmont Triad International Airports within an hour’s drive of Chatham County. The Siler City Municipal Airport is available to serve businesses locally.

RDU hosts seven major airlines and their regional partners, offering service to 40 destinations. The airport served more than 9 million passengers in 2010. Both PTI and RDU are constantly expanding to meet the increased service demands.

Rail Service
Rail service is available in Goldston and Siler City from Norfolk Southern and in Moncure through the CSX rail system.  For businesses with a global market, these rail lines reach seaports in Morehead City, Wilmington, Norfolk (VA), and more.
